Fay Jones Day was born in Toledo, Ohio, where she loved clay and majored in Art in High School. But her parents said " but can you make a living at it?"
Fay began working with clay again in 1986, the year that she became a grandmother. Fay is primarily a self taught artist. In the San Francisco Bay area Fay began with making figurative sculpture for several years. Shortly after moving to Oregon Fay began producing "The Venus Collection", a series highly decorated of slip cast Goddess Vessels. This proved to be a great way to hone her skills at surface decoration. About 2000 while making tiles for her own kitchen, she decided to concentrate on tile making. Fay subsequently learned about Arts and Crafts Style tile, and has been concentrating on tiles for Bungalows for the last several years. Fay makes her original tiles in her home studio in Corvallis, Oregon.
